Portrait Manifestation, Outstanding Attendance for a Noble Cause

On January 22nd, Maryville University’s League of Extraordinary Artists celebrated the opening night of a notable exhibition, Portrait Manifestation, showcasing the talent of 35 Maryville artists. The exhibition displayed the exceptional creativity and technical prowess that Maryville University’s Art & Design program is all about. I’m certainly glad that I was not one of the judges… I don’t know if I could choose only 14 artists! These winners will create portraits of 11 St. Louis Cardinal Baseball Players, a portrait of Manager Mike Matheny, and 2 artistic pieces of Busch Stadium.  These works will all be sold and auctioned to raise money for 3 remarkable non-profit groups: Kids Rock Cancer, Cardinals Care, and Mending Faces. The event was alive with energy and enthusiasm! Both artists and visitors were excited about the Charity Triple-Play Auction that this exhibition will lead up to…but the icing on the cake, for all of us, was having Mike Matheny, the St. Louis Cardinals Manager, come out and support our cause by attending the opening!
