St. Louis native Sarah Shulman is thrilled to be Kids Rock Cancer’s summer music therapy intern!
After graduating from the University of Illinois in 2014, she moved back home to earn a master’s degree in music therapy at Maryville University. It was Kids Rock Cancer that drew her to attend Maryville for graduate school, as she has always been interested in nonprofit work and active in the fight against cancer.
Sarah has gained valuable experience as a practicum student and an intern over the past three years, working with toddlers, children and adults with special needs, expecting families and older adults. She thanks her lucky stars for the opportunity to add Kids Rock Cancer “rock stars” into the mix! In addition to her love of music and helping others, Sarah enjoys being outside, spending time with her family and friends, and eating sushi. Her vices are dogs and babies and you can often find her gawking at one or the other.
Sarah will receive her master’s degree upon the completion of her thesis and internship hours, and is eager to launch a career as a board-certified music therapist!
