Kids Rock Cancer at Camp HIS KIDS

This summer, Kids Rock Cancer had the opportunity to attend Camp HIS KIDS, a weeklong therapeutic summer camp experience for kids with cancer and siblings of kids with cancer, ages 8-17.

Kids Rock Cancer music therapists Tracie Sandheinrich and Ashley Warmbrodt spent the week helping three groups of campers — two sibling groups and one treatment group —  work through their feelings and share stories through therapeutic song writings. You can listen to their original songs and see photos from their sessions below!

Camp HIS KIDS was founded in 1984 by Jim and Connie Miles, who lost their own daughter to cancer at age 11.

From their website: “Camp HIS KIDS provides a unique experience by giving these special children an opportunity to meet others that are going through the same circumstances outside of the hospital environment. Each activity at camp is therapeutically designed to meet the emotional and social needs of our campers as well as the physical ones.”
